Hihi Olive Estate
Hihi Olive Estate is owner operated by Colin and Lynette Wilson
and extends over approx. 40 acres of sloping hillside alongside
Mangonui Harbour / Doubtless Bay in the far north of New Zealand.
We grow and pick several cultivars of olives, including Koroneiki,
Leccino, Pendolino, Ascalando and Frantoio, along with Northland's
unique J5
olive.
We are one of the four members of New Zealand Olive Growers and
Exporters Ltd - a production and marketing company with the brand
name First
Drop.
Tours of our olive grove and pressing room are available by appointment
and you can find us on the Northland
Food & Wine Trail.
Olive oil processing
Our Extra Virgin Olive Oil is cold-pressed in our own olive press,
fltered and bottled on our estate. We also press and process large
or small quantities of olives for other growers in our licensed
facility - please contact us if you are interested
in having us process your olives.
   
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Our single cultivar olive oils are of the highest quality and packaged
in 250ml dark-glass bottles.
Our oils exceed the International Olive Oil Standard and meet the
stringent Olives
New Zealand Certification criteria. Always look for the red
ONZ Certification sticker - proof of quality!
We are producers of award winning olive oil. Our Koroneiki oil
won Gold Medal in the 2008 Los Angeles International Competition
and the First Drop blend won Bronze Medal. Previously, our Koroneiki
won the 2006 Gold Medal from ONZ and Silver Medal at the 2007 Los
Angeles International Competition.
Our oil is classified medium style and will leave your palate with
an intense peppery, grassy sensation. It is used by many of the
leading chefs in Northland.
